The Boston University women's ice hockey team hosts St. Cloud State this weekend, with games on Friday, Nov. 16, at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 17, at 1:00 p.m.
The Terriers (2-6-2, 0-2-0 HE) enter the game following a 4-2 loss against Princeton Saturday. After exchanging goals through the first two periods, the Tigers scored the game-winner four minutes into the third period and tacked on an empty net goal to secure the victory. Sophomore Melissa Tetreau scored her first career goal and junior Amanda Shaw notched her third of the season, while sophomore Jonnie Bloemers had assists on both goals.
St. Cloud State (5-4-3, 4-4-2 WCHA) is on a three-game unbeaten streak, having defeated North Dakota 3-1 in its last game. The Huskies handed No. 1 Wisconsin one of its two losses earlier this season. St. Cloud State features a quartet of sophomores atop its points leaders, with Meaghan Pezon (7-5-12) leading the pack, followed by Caitlin Hogan (1-8-9), Felicia Nelson (5-2-7) and Holly Roberts (1-6-7). Senior Kendall Newell has played the majority of the minutes in goal, earning a 4-3-2 record with a 2.40 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.
These two teams last met on Jan. 5 and 6 last season at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. Gina Kearns and Cara Hendry both scored against the Huskies off assists from Erin Seman, Nicki Wiart and Sarah Appleton in the first game, leading to a 2-2 overtime tie. In the second game, Melissa Anderson scored the Terriers' lone goal off an assists from Kelley Karnan on the way to a 4-1 Terrier loss. Allyse Wilcox was in goal for the first game, while Melissa Haber was between the pipes in the second. Both goaltenders had 27 saves in their respective games.
Following a break, the Terriers next game is at New Hampshire on Saturday, Dec. 1.
