Women’s Ice Hockey Picked Second in Hockey East Preseason Poll

BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team was selected second in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced Tuesday.
 
BU received 82 points, including five first-place votes, which was six more than third-place Northeastern and four behind first-place UConn. Boston College was picked to finish fourth with 64 votes while Providence received 61 votes and a fifth-place nod. New Hampshire (44) was picked sixth, Maine (41) and Vermont (41) tied for seventh, Holy Cross (27) was picked ninth and Merrimack (18) was picked 10th. UConn was the only other team to receive first-place votes with five.
 
Head coach Tara Watchorn enters her third season at the helm, keeping eight of BU's top 10 goal scorers from the 2024-25 season, including senior Sydney Healey, who scored the OT-winner in the Hockey East Championship game. BU finished as the league champion with an overall record of 24-12-2. The Terriers add 10 newcomers, including seven freshmen, this season.
 
The Terriers open the 2025-26 season on Oct. 3 when they host Minnesota at 6 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena.
