BOSTON - Led by an 18-point performance from senior Christine Kinneary, the Boston University women’s basketball team (4-4) cruised to an 81-54 triumph over Brown (1-6) on Wednesday evening at Case Gym. The Terriers shot a sterling 52.4 percent from the field and recorded 29 points off turnovers in their 15th straight victory at The Roof.

Seniors Kristi Dini and Jesyka Burks-Wiley also reached double-figures with 16 and 14 points, respectively. Sophomore Kerry Cashman made her presence on the boards with a career-high 10 rebounds to go along with nine points, three blocks and two steals. In addition to her 18 points, Kinneary dished out eight assists and collected two steals to earn America East Player of the Game honor.

The Terriers were able to penetrate Brown’s defense, scoring 42 in the paint, while also out-rebounding the Bears by a 44-37 margin. BU forced Brown in to 21 turnovers and held the visitors to 36.4 percent from the field.

The Terriers jumped out to an eight-point lead one minute into the contest and never looked back, extending its lead to 10 six minutes later on a 3-pointer by sophomore Kat Briggs. Following the trey, the Bears were never able to get to within ten points, as the Terriers stretched the deficit to 30, taking a 50-20 advantage into the locker rooms at halftime. By the break, Burks-Wiley and Dini each tallied 11 points apiece.

Following the intermission, BU picked up right where it left off, gaining its largest lead of the game, 65-29, at 13:46 on a layup by senior Amarachi Umez-Eronini. BU kept the Bears at bay with stingy defense the rest the way, allowing just eight points in the final 10 minutes of the contest to close out the scoring at 81-54.

The Terriers will look to go 2-0 against the Ivy League on Tuesday when cross-town rival Harvard comes to Case Gym for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
