BOSTON - The wait is nearly over for Boston University's Colin Wilson, as after months of rankings and projections, the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft will commence on Friday evening at Scotiabank Place. A projected top-10 pick, Wilson headed to Ottawa on Thursday to begin preparations for Friday night, when he will continue his family's professional hockey legacy, which includes his father, Carey, and grandfather, Gerry.

Colin's father was a former Dartmouth College standout who played for the Canadian National Team before spending 13 seasons in the NHL with the Calgary Flames, Hartford Whalers and New York Rangers. His grandfather had a brief stint with the Montreal Canadiens before becoing the Winnipeg Jets' team doctor.

Wilson is coming off an impressive freshman season with the Terriers, ranking third on the team with 35 points (13g, 22a) en route to being named both the New England and Hockey East Rookie of the Year.

When Wilson committed to BU in 2006, he was selected as one of the top 5 prospects for the 2008 draft by International Scouting Services. Over the past two years, his draft stock has remained strong and he now figures to be selected anywhere between fourth and 12th overall in Friday night's first round. Wilson is the top-ranked player with college ties in this year's draft class.
