Orono, Maine - Senior Emily Pallotta netted two goals and classmate Casey Brown and sophomore Jessica Luscinski provided extra offensive power, as the Boston University women's soccer team (7-4-2, 3-0-0 AE) defeated Maine (4-4-2, 1-1-1 AE), 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Terriers, who extended their unbeaten streak to five games, delivered the Black Bears their first conference loss of the season.

Six different Terriers got in on the scoring as Pallotta scored two, Luscinski found the back of the net and added an assist, and Brown tallied her first goal of the season. Senior Taleen Dimirdjian, freshman Adrienne Anderson and McClernon provided assists.

After nearly an entire 45 minutes of scoreless action, Pallotta broke the deadlock with her second goal of the season after a scramble inside the 18-yard box. McClernon was credited with the assist on the goal. Early in the second half, Brown tacked on another goal off a pass from Dimirdjian in the 48th minute, and Pallotta made it a 3-0 game three minutes when she connected on Luscinski's cross inside the box.

In the 53rd minute, Maine spoiled the shutout with Maddie Hill's second goal of the season from a shot just outside the box, and it drew to within one, 3-2, when Hannah Breton unleashed a shot from the top of the box at 74:01.

BU put the game away in the 82nd minute when Anderson sent in a cross to Luscinski for the sixth and final goal of the game. It was Anderson's first collegiate point and Luscinski's third goal of the season.

The Terriers' defense held one of the nation's leading scorers, Laura Martel, scoreless, after she had scored eight goals in nine games. Senior Janie Reilly made two stops in 90 minutes of action while BU outshot Maine, 15-12, and held a commanding 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Terriers, who currently sit at the top of the America East standings, have extended their unbeaten streak against America East foes to 19 games, which includes AE postseason contests and dates back to Oct. 21, 2007. During that stretch, BU has gone 18-0-1, with the lone tie coming to New Hampshire on Oct. 25, 2007.

Next up for the Terriers is Vermont on Thursday (Oct. 8) at Nickerson Field. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
