BOSTON – With one third of Patriot League play in the books, the Boston University women's soccer program returns home to host Lafayette on Saturday (Oct. 4). Opening kick is set for 1 p.m.
BU (4-4-3, 1-1-1 PL) looks to boost its home unbeaten streak in conference play to eight games, dating back to the 2023 campaign. The Terriers have allowed just two goals in four games this season at Nickerson Field.
Lafayette (3-3-5, 1-0-2 PL) enters the Patriot League tied for second with five points against conference foes. The Leopards have lost just once in their last six matches.
Saturday marks BU's Pride Game. Pride stickers, flags and other materials are available at the marketing table on the Nickerson Field concourse. Founded in 2017, BU Athletics' student-led Athlete Ally chapter fosters an inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ student-athletes and allies through four core pillars: Community, Visibility, Education and Empowerment.
The contest airs on ESPN+ at the top of the hour with Brady Couto, Milton Posner and Claire Chen on the call. Live statistics and an audio-only broadcast are available through GoTerriers.com while the Patriot League provides an international stream.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU picked up its first league win in 2025 with a 3-2 triumph at Army West Point on Oct. 1.
- Seniors Mackenzie Stickelman and Margy Porta both scored five minutes into the match before classmate Giulianna Gianino buried the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute.
- Gianino finished the game with three points to become the eighth Terrier in program history to eclipse the 60-point plateau. She is tied with Nicole Soules '02 for seventh in program history with 23 career goals.
- She ranks third in Division I with 2.36 shots on goal per game and 21st with four shots per contest.
- The Terriers' senior class has accounted for 10 of the team's 16 goals this season, good for over 62 percent.
- Eleven different Terriers have notched at least one point in 2025.

SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
- The Leopards sandwiched a 2-1 win over American between draws and Colgate and Bucknell in Patriot League action.
- Katrina Santelli and Nadia Zaffanella each have four goals to pace Lafayette. Goalkeeper Catherine Apker sports a .750 save percentage and 1.14 goals-against average.
- The Leopards were projected to finish seventh in the Patriot League preseason poll while Santelli garnered Preseason All-Patriot League honors.
- Lafayette finished seventh last year with a 2-3-4 Patriot League record, going 5-6-4 overall.
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday marks the 14th all-time meeting between BU and Lafayette in a series that began in 2013.
- The Terriers sport a 10-1-2 mark in the rivalry and are unbeaten in the last five installments.
- BU is 6-0 at home against Lafayette. The scoring margin favors the Terriers, 18-4, in those contests.
- Last year, both teams played to a 1-1 draw in Easton, Pa. as Gianino scored the equalizer in the 75th minute. Olivia Avellar recorded her first collegiate point.
