Brockton, Mass. - The Boston University golf team opened its spring campaign with a fifth-place finish at the Brown Invitational, as the squad carded a 692 in the two-day invite at Thorny Leah Golf Course in Brockton, Mass. Senior Lauren Stong said atop of the Terriers' leaderboard with a 19th-place finish.
Stong paced the Terriers' efforts carding an 86 on Saturday and improved to an 81 on Sunday for a two-day total of 167. Stong played the last eight holes of the event one over par.
Sophomore Ana Johnson, playing in the one position for BU, was the second Terrier to finish the tourney with a 173 (86-87) to finish in 24th overall. Freshman Courtney Dampolo finished two slots behind Johnson with a 175 (88-87). Following closely behind was senior Allison Hamilton in 27th with a 176 (87-89) over two days. Sophomore Dana DeStefano and junior Kaitlyn Mardeusz tied for 28th with two-day totals of 177.
Rounding out the field for the Terriers was freshman Caroline Burkhard, who was playing in her first collegiate event, and she placed 32nd (96-102--198).
