DURHAM, N.H. - Freshman Caitlynn Moran knocked down eight-straight free throw attempts in the final two minutes to net a game-high 20 points as the Boston University women's basketball team (10-10, 6-2 AE) earned a 66-59 come-from-behind victory over UNH on Thursday evening. Moran led three players in double figures, as sophomore Alex Young added 17 and freshman Chantell Alford chipped in 13.

Moran earned BU's America East Player of the Game honor as her clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch kept BU's lead at a safe distance in the final two minutes of the contest. Moran finished the game with four assists, four rebounds, five steals and was 11-for-13 from the charity stripe. Young drained five of her six field goals from behind the arc to finish with 17 points while, all of Alford's points came in the second half as the Terriers overcame an eight-point disadvantage. Sophomore Caroline Stewart brought down a game-high nine rebounds and senior Aly Hinton swatted two key shots that jumpstarted the Terriers' 14-0 second-half run that gave them the lead for good.

As a team, BU shot 35.1 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from behind the arc, while the Terriers won the battle of the boards, 41-35. By the 13:40 mark, BU maintained a 10-5 advantage as Young hit two treys, however, UNH would draw to within one three minutes later when Kelley Flynn hit a jumper inside the paint to move the score to 12-10. Less than a minute later, the Wildcats knotted the score at 15 on a Candace Williams three and subsequently took their first lead of the game on a layup at 10:06.

After six lead changes, UNH went on an 11-0 run to take a 33-24 lead, until Moran halted the three-minute scoring drought with a three-point play with six seconds left. At halftime UNH held a 35-27 advantage as Lauren Wells scored a last-second shot to give the Wildcats an eight-point lead. Young led all scorers with 12 first-half points, while Stewart brought down six boards.

A Hinton block on the defensive end led to a fastbreak layup by Moran to cut the deficit to five points, 37-32, with 15:55 remaining in the game, which was in the midst of a 14-0 run that gave them a 42-37 advantage. The Terriers’ defense also held UNH without a point for nearly six minutes and without a field goal for eight minutes.

BU extended its lead to 10 points, 56-46, when Alford and Moran knocked down back-to-back treys. A quick 4-0 UNH spurt cut the lead to two possessions, 56-50, with 2:25 remaining in the contest; however, BU would not relent its lead and Moran took over from their hitting all eight of her free throw attempts in the last two minutes to round out the score at 66-59.

The Terriers will host Maine on Saturday (Jan. 30) at 2 p.m.
