BOSTON - Led by a 15-save performance by senior Rachel Klein, the No. 17 Boston University lacrosse team used a stifling defense in addition to hat tricks from seniors McKinley Curro and Traci Landy to post a 10-4 victory over New Hampshire on Wednesday afternoon at Nickerson Field. The Terriers improve to an even 6-6 overall and 2-0 in America East play, while the Wildcats drop to 7-4 with a 1-1 conference mark.

Klein stopped the first 11 shots she faced, as the Terriers took a 3-0 lead into the half and did not allow UNH to score until the 38th minute of play.

After BU scored the first five goals of the game, the Wildcats scored consecutive goals to make it a 5-2 game, but the Terriers responded with another five-goal run to put the game away and remain undefeated in conference play.

Curro added an assist for a game-high four points, while freshman Danielle Etrasco recorded a pair of goals. Junior Mandy Rogers registered a game-best three caused turnovers.

Four different Wildcats scored a goal in the game and freshman goalkeeper Kathleen O'Keefe made seven saves in just over 51 minutes of action before sophomore Kate Gunts recorded one stop in the final 8:57.

The Terriers held advantages in draw controls (10-6) and ground balls (16-15), but UNH outshot BU, 26-21. The Wildcats went just 1-of-6 on free-position shots, including 0-for-5 in the opening half.

The win extended BU's win streak against America East opponents to 25 and was its 12th straight triumph against the Wildcats, as it has not lost to its conference rival since the 2004 America East title game.

BU will return to action on Saturday (April 10) when it visits UMBC for a noon contest.
