CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Boston University women's soccer team (4-5-0) shut out Harvard (1-3-1) with a 3-0 triumph on Thursday afternoon at Ohiri Field. Sophomore Jessica Luscinski broke the scoreless deadlock in the 20th minute and graduate student Lisa Kevorkian as well as senior Brittany Heist provided insurance goals in the second half.

Freshman Kelly King made a pair of saves in the first half, while junior Alice Binns took over the final 45 minutes and came up with five stops.

Luscinski's game winner was her third goal of the season, while Kevorkian tallied her league-leading sixth and Heist broke through for the first time this year. Junior Shauna Kelleher was credited with an assist on the first goal and freshman Kylie Strom earned one on Heist's.

The Terriers took an early 1-0 lead at 19:32 when Luscinski placed her shot into the upper right corner from 10 yards out off a rebound from Kelleher. In the first half, the Terriers maintained a 12-10 advantage in shots, which included five on target.

Within the first few minutes of the second stanza, BU came out aggressively with Kevorkian unleashing a rocket to the far left side that forced Harvard netminder Jessica Wright to make a leaping save to her right and usher out of danger. Kevorkian broke through in the 49th minute with a shot that ricocheted off the far left post and into the net for her team-leading sixth goal of the year at 49:34.

Binns made a handful of outstanding saves in the second half to uphold the shutout, which included a pair of diving stops. Defender Katherine Donnelly also made an impressive team save as she raced back to the goal line to stop a shot right before it crossed in to the net in the 79th minute.

Heist upped the advantage to three goals when she leapt above everyone inside the 16-yard box to head home the final tally off a corner kick Strom.

The BU defense took over in the final few minutes of the game as it held on for its third shutout of the season.

BU returns to the pitch on Sunday (Sept. 19) when it welcomes Nickerson Field UConn at 1 p.m.
