DURHAM, N.H. - Junior Caroline Stewart posted a double-double with a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Boston University women's basketball team (5-9, 2-0 AE) defeated New Hampshire (3-11, 0-2 AE), 63-43, on Thursday night at Lundholm Gymnasium.

Stewart was an impressive 9-for-11 from the field to earn America East Player of the Game honors, while sophomore Chantell Alford contributed 14 points and a season-high seven rebounds. Sophomore Mo Moran dished out a game-high seven assists to go along with two steals.

The Terriers defense held an opponent to a sub 30 percent field goal shooting for the second game in a row, as the Wildcats shot just .294 from the field. BU held UNH scoreless for 11 minutes and without a field goal for 12 minutes, which spanned both halves. It forced the Wildcats to make 20 turnovers, resulting in 20 crucial BU points.

Stewart scored BU's first nine points to give the Terriers a 9-2 lead by the 15:31 mark and force UNH into an early timeout to regroup. Junior Alex Young drained a trey in front of the UNH bench to up BU's lead to 12-4 just 14 minutes into the contest, however, a 15-0 run by the UNH boosted it to its first lead since 19:34 as it took a 19-16 edge at 8:58.

In a fantastic display of defense, the Terriers held the Wildcats scoreless for the remainder of the half to take a 31-19 lead into the locker rooms. At the break, Stewart led the Terriers with 13 points - just one point shy of a career high - while Alford had already matched a season high for rebounds with six boards.

In the first half alone, the Terriers forced UNH to make 10 turnovers, while withholding it from making any trips to the charity stripe.

Beliveau scored UNH's first field goal in 12 minutes with a three at 17:13 in the second half as BU led it 40-24. The Wildcats continued to hit the outside shots with another pair of threes by the 13:03 mark, but the Terriers maintained their double-digit advantage as sophomore Kristen Sims scored nine of their next 11 points to lead 51-38 by 7:33. Over the last six minutes, BU outscored UNH, 12-5, to claim the 20-point victory, 63-43.

The Terriers return to action on Sunday (Jan. 9) at 1 p.m. when they head to Vermont.
