The No. 4 Boston University women’s hockey team will welcome Union College to Walter Brown Arena on Saturday afternoon, as the Terriers look for their third straight win. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.
BU (3-1-0, 0-0-0 WHEA) is 7-0-0 all-time against Union, including a 6-2 win last season in Schenectady, N.Y. The Terriers went 8-0-0 last season against ECAC opponents, including a 4-1 win against Cornell in the NCAA semifinals.
The Terriers swept Niagara last weekend, as they earned a 3-1 win on Friday night before they dispatched the Purple Eagles, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Kerrin Sperry (17 saves) earned the win on Friday, while junior Alissa Fromkin made a career-high 29 saves on Saturday for her first victory of the season.
Senior captain and Hockey East Co-Player of the Week Jenn Wakefield leads Hockey East with nine points (5-4—9), and her five goals are tied for the league lead. Isabel Menard is second on the team and tied for second in the conference with seven points (2-5—7), and she shares the top spot in the conference for assists with five.
Menard will be playing against her twin sister Talia on Saturday. The pair played at Syracuse last season before Isabel transferred to BU and Talia made the move to Union.
Union (1-3-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) enters Saturday’s matchup fresh off a Friday afternoon game at No. 8 Northeastern. Despite 38 saves from goaltender Shenae Lundberg, the Dutchwomen dropped a 2-1 decision to the Huskies. Bryanne Panchuk (1-3—4) and Stefanie Thomson (3-1—4) lead the Dutchwomen with four points each. Lauren Hoffman is third on the team in scoring with three points (1-2—3).
