WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman forward Kayla Tutino (Lorraine, Que.) of the Boston University women's hockey team was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Tutino recorded her first collegiate hat trick on Saturday in the Terriers' 6-2 win over Union. One of her goals came while BU was shorthanded; it was the second shorthanded goal of the season for Tutino.
The Lorraine, Que., native leads all conference rookies with four goals and is second among Hockey East freshmen in points with five (4-1--5). She also leads the nation in shorthanded goals.
BU hits the road this weekend for a pair of ECAC games in the North Country. First up for the Terriers is a date with Clarkson in Potsdam, N.Y., on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a Saturday afternoon affair with St. Lawrence in Canton, N.Y., at 2 p.m.
