WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore goaltender Kerrin Sperry (North Reading, Mass.) of the fifth-ranked Boston University women’s hockey team was named Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

It is the second time this season that Sperry has received this honor, as she earned the honor on Oct. 3. The North Reading, Mass., native shares the award this week with Northeastern goaltender Florence Schelling.

Sperry used a 30-save performance to guide the Terriers to a 4-1 win at Boston College on Wednesday night. She then made 35 saves in a 3-1 loss to the Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Sperry has now stopped at least 30 shots in six straight games and seven of her eight starts this year.

The Terriers will return to action on Saturday when they host the New Hampshire Wildcats at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m.
