BOSTON - The Boston University lacrosse team will continue its western road trip when it plays Denver on Saturday (March 19) at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium at 3 p.m. The Terriers will enter the weekend contest with a 3-3 record.
In its last game, BU had its two-game win streak snapped with a 14-5 loss to No. 14/19 Notre Dame. The Terriers garnered goals from five different players. Junior Molly Swain paced the squad with two points (1g, 1a), while senior Erica Baumgartner, junior Catie Tilton and sophomores Danielle Etrasco and Kristen Mogavero scored one goal each.
Etrasco leads BU with 16 goals and 22 points, while senior Rachel Collins has collected team highs in ground balls (18) and draw controls (16). Classmate Corcoran Downey has registered eight caused turnovers.
The Terriers will see a familiar face on the opposing sideline as Liza Kelly, who served as BU's head coach from 2002-06, is in her fifth season as Denver's head coach. In her five seasons at the Terrier helm, Kelly posted a 64-33 mark and led BU to four America East titles.
The Pioneers will enter the matchup with a 1-6 record after falling to America East opponent Vermont, 10-6, on Wednesday. The Terriers will be Denver's third America East foe of the 2011 campaign, as they lost to Stony Brook, 11-7, on Feb. 27.
In 2011, Lauren Ciccomascolo paces the squad in goals (10), while Kara Secora ranks first in assists (8) and points (17). Kelsey McDowell has collected a team-high 13 ground balls and Tulley Stapp has eight caused turnovers. Ashely Harman has started and been the goalkeeper of record for all seven games.
Saturday afternoon's matchup marks the first-ever meeting between BU and Denver.
