DENVER - Senior Erica Baumgartner reached a milestone with her 100th career assist, but the Boston University lacrosse team fell to Denver, 13-11, at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Terriers dropped to 3-4.

With four assists in the game, Baumgartner has recorded 102 helpers during her career. The Silver Spring, Md., native is just the third Terrier to register at least 100 career assists and is now just six assists away from tying Mary Beth Miller ('06) for most in program history.

Baumgartner paced the squad with five points (1g, 4a), while junior Hannah Frey scored three goals. Sophomores Danielle Etrasco (2g) and Kristen Mogavero (2g) and senior Rachel Collins (1g, 1a) also collected multi-point games.

The Terriers outshot the Pioneers, 29-24, and held a 15-11 draw control advantage. Denver won the ground ball battle, 10-5, and executed on 7-of-15 free-position shots. BU scored on 1-of-5 attempts.

Freshman Christina Sheridan started for the Terriers and made seven saves through the first 44 minutes. Sophomore Kim Elsworth played the remainder of the contest and stopped one shot.

BU and the Pioneers scored four goals each in the first half. Frey opened the scoring with an assist from Baumgartner at 6:32 before Collins gave the Terriers a 2-0 lead with 22:26 left in the frame. Junior Catie Tilton collected an assist on the play.

Denver scored the next four goals, including three on free-position shots, as the Pioneers took a 4-2 advantage with 2:38 remaining in the opening stanza.

In the final 1:19 of the frame, the Terriers tallied twice to even the game. Baumgartner scored to make it a 4-3 contest and then Mogavero added a marker with 1:11 left in the half.

In the second stanza, junior Molly Swain and Etrasco sandwiched a Denver goal in the first minute of the half as the Terriers grabbed a 6-5 lead.

The Pioneers then tallied five consecutive goals, including two from both Jenn Etzel and Alex Befus, in a 5:08 span. Mikayla Clark tallied the fifth marker with 20:02 left in the half to give Denver a 10-6 advantage.

The Terriers then went on a 5-1 run to even the game. Senior Corcoran Downey tallied with 17:46 left in the half to make it a 10-7 contest. After Denver answered just over two minutes later, BU netted four straight goals.

Mogavero scored with an assist from Frey at 13:38 and then Frey tallied two straight, with assists from Baumgartner on both goals, in a 5:08 span to make it an 11-10 game.

Etrasco evened the game with 6:44 left before Denver scored twice in the final 4:18 to account for the 13-11 final.

BU will return to action on Wednesday (March 23) when it concludes a three-game road trip against Yale. Game time is set at 4 p.m.
