CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -
Freshman goalkeeper Valentina Cerda (Santiago, Chile) has been named the America East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Cerda turned in a standout performance in Friday's 1-0 loss to 10th-ranked Boston College, as the rookie recorded seven saves in just her second collegiate start to keep the Terriers in the game right until the final whistle.
After allowing a hard-luck goal off a corner in the second minute, Cerda was perfect for the remainder of the contest, stopping the next four shots she faced before the half before turning aside all three she faced in the latter half.
Cerda has appeared in four contests, making two starts, and boasts a 0.83 goals-against average and an .818 save percentage.
