The Boston University women’s hockey team begins a four-game homestand on Saturday afternoon when Vermont visits Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m.
BU (11-12-1, 6-7-0 WHEA) will look to snap a three-game losing streak against a Vermont (3-13-6, 2-7-2 WHEA) side that is also looking to snap a three-game slide. The Terriers endured a hard-fought 4-2 loss at New Hampshire on Thursday night in their last home game of the month.
Despite the losing streak, BU has played well and has received consistent contributions from several skaters. Senior captain Jenn Wakefield has notched a point in each of the last seven games. She has also been red hot at home, as she has recorded at least one point in all but one of the Terriers’ home games this season.
Other players who have been point producers of late include juniors Cristina Wiley (2a) and Jill Cardella (1g, 1a), who have both registered a point in each of the last two contests. Senior defenseman Tara Watchorn has also had a helping hand recently, as she has an assist in four of her last five games.
The Catamounts have never won at Walter Brown Arena (0-7-2), but both draws came last season. A trio of skaters tops leaderboard, as senior Chelsea Rapin (4g, 6a) and freshmen Amanda Pelkey (3g, 7a) and Meghan Huertas (1g, 9a) each have 10 points. Sophomore goaltender Roxanne Douville has been between the pipes for 16 games this season. She has posted a goals-against average of 3.41 and a save percentage of .898.
The Terriers will have a short turnaround, as they will welcome the No. 4/5 Boston College Eagles to Walter Brown Arena on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
