WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore goaltender Kerrin Sperry of the Boston University women’s hockey team was named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Sperry (North Reading, Mass.) stopped 30 shots to record her first shutout of the season on Wednesday to lead BU to a 6-0 win over fourth-ranked Boston College. She followed that up with a 28-save performance in a 3-2 win over sixth-ranked Northeastern. The Terriers' two wins garnered them Team of the Week honors from Hockey East.
This is the third time Sperry has been honored by Hockey East this season. She was named Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 3 and Nov. 7. She shares the award this week with Kristina Lavoie of New Hampshire.
The Terriers will be in action on Tuesday night as BU hosts the 34th annual Women’s Beanpot at Walter Brown Arena. Boston College and Northeastern will play at 5 p.m., before BU hosts Harvard at 8 p.m.
