Women's Soccer Earns Three Year-End Conference Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After claiming its sixth straight America East regular season championship, the Boston University women’s soccer team was boasts with three America East year-end award winners, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. The Terriers led the league in all-conference honorees with eight total, including three first team honorees.

Senior Jessica Morrow was named Defender of the Year while junior Emma Clark was selected as Midfielder of the Year. The Terriers coaching staff, led by 18th-year head coach Nancy Feldman, garnered Coaching Staff of the Year accolades for fourth time in the last five seasons.

Junior Madison Clemens joins Clark and Morrow on the All-Conference First Team while juniors Megan McGoldrick, Erin Mullen and sophomore Ana Cuffia were named to the Second Team. Freshman McKenzie Hollenbaugh and Clare Pleuler earned All-Rookie honors.

Morrow earned the program’s sixth straight Defender of the Year honor after anchoring BU’s backline throughout the season. Morrow was one of five players to start every game for the Terriers. The co-captain led the defense that limited conference opponents to a 0.49 goals against average while posting five shutouts in eight league games. Morrow also contributed to BU’s offense and tied for the team lead with five assists.

Clark has added to the tradition of dominant BU midfielders, becoming the fifth different Terrier to be named Midfielder of the Year in as many seasons. The junior also started all 19 games for the Terriers and finished the season with four goals, which ranked second on the team. Clark netted the game-winning goal at Hartford that put BU alone atop the league standings. Clark also added an assist to rank second on the team with nine points.

Feldman, who is in her 18th season at BU led her team to a 12-6-1 record and a perfect 8-0-0 mark in America East play to earn the program’s 10th regular-season title. She has led the Terriers to victory in their last 32 America East games, including three straight undefeated conference seasons. Feldman is a nine-time America East Coach of the Year and has mentored 29 major award winners during her tenure. She is assisted by Liz Driscoll, Jessica Clinton and Mark McDevitt. Feldman and her staff shared the honor with Hartford’s coaching staff.

Clemens joins Morrow and Clark on the All-Conference First Team after leading the Terriers’ offense with eight goals on the season. The junior kept BU’s winning streak alive in the Terriers’ 2-1 overtime victory at Vermont when she recorded the first multi-goal game of her career.

McGoldrick leads the three Terriers on the All-Conference second team as the junior co-captain started all 19 games. She provided valuable leadership to the midfield unit throughout the year and finished the season with five points (1g, 3a). Mullen also earned second team honors for her performance on BU’s backline while Cuffia scored three goals, including two game-winners, to garner her selection.

Hollenbaugh and Pleuler made their presence felt in their first season in a BU uniform en route to earning All-Rookie honors. Hollenbaugh appeared in 15 games on BU’s backline while Pleuler appeared in every game and tallied a pair of goals.

Two members of the Terriers were also honored for their academic achievements, as Morrow and sophomore Taylor Krebs were named to the America East All-Academic Team. Morrow earned her second straight All-Academic Team nod while Krebs received the honor for the first time.
