CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Junior Monica Adler of the Boston University women's cross country team and classmate Rich Peters of the men's cross country team were each named America East Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Adler claimed first place at the New England Championships on Sunday, while Peters placed second at the same event. It was the first collegiate victory for Adler, who finished the race with a time of 17:00.79. She completed the 5K course nearly six seconds faster than the second-place competitor and helped lead BU to a seventh-place finish as a team.

Peters paced the men's squad to a fourth-place finish thanks to his time of 24:21.04. He was the only conference runner to place in the top 20. It was just the second race of the season for Peters, who previously won the New Hampshire Invitational on Sept. 14. This is the second time he has been selected as Performer of the Week.

Both cross country teams will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 13) when the Terriers trek to Louisville, Ky., for Pre-Nationals.
