WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore goaltender Kerrin Sperry was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
The North Reading, Mass., native recorded a career-high 58 saves in the Terriers' triple-overtime loss to Cornell on Saturday. Sperry stopped 29 shots through regulation before she made another 29 stops in the extra sessions.
This is the third time this season that Sperry was named Defensive Player of the Week. She also garnered a Player of the Week nod this year.
She finished the 2011-12 season with a 2.50 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. Sperry recorded a winning record for the second straight season, as she posted a 19-14-1 mark.
