Four Terriers Honored as WHEA All-Stars

HYANNIS, Mass. - Four members of the No. 9 Boston University women's hockey team were named Hockey East All-Stars, the league announced at the Championship Awards Banquet on Friday night.

Senior captain Jenn Wakefield and senior defenseman Kasey Boucher were each named First Team All-Stars, while senior defenseman Tara Watchorn and junior forward Isabel Menard were each selected as Second Team All-Stars.

Wakefield was a unanimous selection after she finished the regular-season as the league leader in points (47) and assists (24). She was the WHEA Scoring Champion as well, having notched 31 points (14g, 17a) in 19 league games. She earned Player of the Month honors for October and January and was runner-up for the Player of the Year award.

Boucher, who earned the WHEA Best Defenseman Award on Tuesday, was fantastic for the Terriers. She played in 20 of 21 league games and registered a plus-15 rating, best on the team. She notched nine assists in conference contests and totaled one goal and 13 assists in 33 regular-season games.

Watchorn missed the first seven games of the season due to injury, but bounced back to lead all Hockey East defensemen in points (22) and assists (16). She saved a majority of her scoring for league play, as she was tops among blue-liners in goals (5), assists (14) and points (19) in conference competition.

Menard made the most of her first season in Hockey East, as she finished the regular-season with 37 points (16g, 21a), which was fourth-best in the conference. She was also third among scorers in league play with 26 points (13g, 13a). The Ottawa, Ont., native was named Player of the Month for February.

BU will take on No. 9 Boston College in the second semifinal of the Hockey East Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center in Hyannis, Mass. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
