NORTH EASTON, Mass. - The Boston University men's track and field team finished fifth at the Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday at W.B. Mason Stadium.
The Terriers earned 67.5 points over 21 events. Stonehill, the host school, claimed first place with 216 points.
Senior Jeff Pelage had a tremendous day, as he was first in the discus with a throw of 46.45m and second in the shot put (14.94m). Freshman Ethan Knight turned in a fourth-place throw in the discus (42.22m) and was seventh in the shot put (14.04m). Freshman Michael Maloof also competed in the discus, finishing 12th (33.67). Maloof's day was highlighted by a third-place finish in the hammer throw (49.20m).
In other field events, senior Michael Murowchick was second in the javelin with a mark of 51.07m. Adam Weaver turned in a fifth-place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 4.20m. Freshman Nikolaos Farmakidis also hit a mark of 4.20m and placed seventh. In the long jump, Sam Wuest finished fourth with a leap of 6.66m. Nicholas Kreutzjans placed 12th with a jump of 6.04m.
In the 5000m run, Chris Mercurio finished fifth (15:21.28). Senior Matt Pereira also had a fifth-place finish, as he ran the 100m dash with a pace of 11.23 seconds. Pereira (23.20) and junior Brian Leonard (23.16) finished 15th and 14th, respectively, in the 200m dash.
Sophomore Tom Waterman finished seventh in the 800m run (1:58.88). Also in that event, freshman Zach Marriott (1:59.86) was 11th while senior Colin Lee was 15th (2:00.65). Freshman Matt Solomon was 15th in the 1500m run (4:08.54), while freshman Aaron Somoroff finished 21st (4:10.91). Freshman Ben Ravetz was second in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:07.82.
BU will be back in action next weekend when the Terriers compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational (April 20-21) in Princeton, N.J., as well as the MIT Invitational (April 21) in Cambridge, Mass.
