WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Rebecca Russo of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Russo scored three goals and added an assist in two games this past weekend for the Terriers. She scored twice at Union on Saturday, including the overtime winner, to help lead BU to a 3-2 victory. Russo also had a goal and an assist at Rensselaer on Friday night.
The Westport, Conn., native nearly exceeded last year's point total in one weekend; she scored one goal and tallied four assists in 30 games last season. This is the first time she has been named Hockey East Player of the Week. She shared this week's honor with Vermont's Amanda Pelkey.
BU will be back in action this weekend when the Terriers travel to Robert Morris for a two-game series beginning on Friday night at 7 p.m.
