CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After scoring a pair of goals last week, freshman Erica Kosienski of the Boston University women’s soccer team was named the Patriot League BRINE Rookie of the Week, as announced by the League on Monday afternoon.

Kosienski collected her League-leading fourth Rookie of the Week honor after helping the Terriers extend their unbeaten streak to seven games and improve to 10-3-3 (5-1-0 PL) with a pair of wins last week. The Terriers clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament following Saturday’s 1-0 win over Loyola Maryland after BU closed out its non-conference slate with a 1-1 draw at Dartmouth on Wednesday.

The Plantsville, Conn., native came off the bench and broke the scoreless affair at Dartmouth in the 37th minute with an assist from junior Jamie Turchi before the Big Green tied the game in the 84th minute and the teams battled through double overtime for a draw.

On Saturday, Kosienski netted her team-leading fourth game-winning goal of the season in the 82nd minute. After receiving a through ball from senior Megan McGoldrick, the speedy freshman darted to the center of the box and blasted a shot to the top of the net for BU to take the 1-0 lead.

Kosienski was also named the BRINE Rookie of the Week on Sept. 9, Sept. 16 and Sept. 30. The forward has appeared in all 16 games this season and leads BU with 15 shots on goal and a .682 shooting percentage. Her five goals this season are the most by a BU freshman since current senior Emma Clark recorded five tallies during her rookie campaign in 2010.

The Terriers begin a two-game road swing on Wednesday (Oct. 23) when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to face Colgate. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.
