BOSTON – Concluding its three-game home stand, the Boston University women’s soccer team takes a break from Patriot League play to host Harvard for a non-conference game on Tuesday (Oct. 8) at Nickerson Field. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.

Both teams enter Tuesday’s game riding winning streaks, as the Terriers have won three straight to stand at 8-3-1 (3-1-0 Patriot League) on the season while the Crimson are winners of their last six games and hold a 6-3-1 (2-0-0 Ivy League) record.

Tuesday marks the 16th meeting all-time between BU and Harvard with the Crimson holding a 6-5-4 advantage in the series. Last year, the teams battled to a 2-2 draw at Harvard with sophomores Jenna Fisher and Clare Pleuler scoring for the Terriers. BU’s last victory over Harvard came in the first round of the 2011 NCAA tournament when the Terriers triumphed, 3-0, at Nickerson Field on Nov. 12, 2011.

BU looks to extend its home unbeaten streak (6-0-1) to eight games on Tuesday. Dating back to last season, BU has won its last 11 games at Nickerson Field and has not allowed an opponent to score a goal on its home turf since Albany found the back of the net on Sept. 23, 2012. BU’s last loss at Nickerson Field was over a year ago when Massachusetts blanked the Terriers, 1-0, on Sept. 14, 2012.

The Terriers are coming off back-to-back 3-0 wins over Patriot League opponents last week. In Wednesday’s win over Holy Cross, senior Madison Clemens recorded the second multi-goal game of her career with a pair of tallies while junior Taylor Krebs also found the back of the net. Clemens, the Patriot League BRINE Offensive Player of the Week, added another goal in Saturday’s win over Lehigh, while fellow senior Megan McGoldrick and junior Jamie Turchi also scored.

Clemens now leads the Terriers with five goals on the season while freshman Erica Kosienski is second on the team with three tallies. McGoldrick and Turchi are tied for third on the squad with two goals each while four Terriers have dished out two assists.

Senior Andrea Green combined with junior Alyssa Parisi and freshman Bridget Conway to pick up two more shutouts in net this weekend, upping her season total to seven clean sheets. Green boasts a 0.38 goals against average and an .875 save percentage.

Harvard takes a break from Ivy League play to visit the Terriers on Tuesday. The Crimson defeated Yale, 3-1, in their last outing on Saturday. Freshman Margaret Purce leads Harvard with a 6-1-13 stat line while classmate Karly Zlatic is second on the team with three goals for six points. Overall, nine different players have found the back of the net for the Crimson this season.

Juniors Cheta Emba and Bethany Kanten have played the majority of the minutes in net for Harvard this season. Kanten has a 1.67 goals against average while Emba allows just 0.27 goals per game. As a team, the Crimson permits 0.78 goals per contest.

BU will return to Patriot League play on Saturday (Oct. 12), when the Terriers travel to Easton, Pa., to face Lafayette. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
