Terriers Win Six Events at USATF New England Open Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Boston University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the USATF New England Open Championships at Harvard on Sunday, with Terriers earning victories in six different events.

Senior Nikko Brady led the women's team with victories in both the 60m hurdles (8.76) and the long jump (5.72m). Graduate student Zachary Ray was victorious in the same two events for the men, with a leap of 7.16m in the long jump and a season-best time of 7.94 seconds in the 60m hurdles.

Senior Allison Barwise won the women's high jump (1.78m), while sophomore Tessa Runels had a season-best mark of 11.80m in the triple jump to round out the Terrier winners. BU also boasted several top-five finishers, including junior Susan Ottey, who had a season-best mark of 16.02m in the weight throw to finish fourth. Freshman Catherine Sampson was fourth in the long jump (5.00m).

On the men's side, junior Connor Sullivan placed third in the high jump (1.93m), while senior Samuel Arsenault was third in the long jump (6.76m). Arsenault also placed fifth in the 60m hurdles (8.80). Senior Robert Gibson whad a third-place finish in the mile (4:11.86) and freshman Reuben Horace also earned third place in the weight throw (18.36m).

Next on the schedule for the track and field teams is the New England Championships, which will take place this weekend (Feb. 22-23).
