GREENSBORO, N.C. - Graduate student Zachary Ray advanced to the NCAA Championships on Friday night at the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Track and Field Preliminary Championships at North Carolina A&T.
Ray posted a time of 51.92 seconds in the quarterfinals of the 400m hurdles to secure the 12th and final spot in the NCAA semifinals held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore. This is the second straight year that Ray has advanced to the national semifinals of the 400m hurdles. He also competed in the prelims of the 110m hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.10 seconds.
Senior Tewado Latty concluded his season with a time of 48.14 seconds in the quarterfinals of the 400m dash. He finished 2013 with the fastest time in the conference, a personal-best 46.15 seconds. Classmate R.J. Page did not finish the 200m dash on Friday night; he ended 2013 with the fastest 200m dash time in the conference (21.07).
Junior Rich Peters will compete in the quarterfinals of the 1,500m run on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. He has a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships for the second straight year.
