CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A 17-point deficit at halftime was too much for the Boston University women's basketball team to overcome and the Terriers lost to Boston College, 73-56, on Thursday night at Conte Forum. With the loss, BU moves to 1-2 on the season.

Sophomore Meghan Green had another career night, posting a personal-best and game-leading 22 points and 15 rebounds against the Eagles (2-1). Green entered the game after scoring a career-high 19 points against Harvard on Monday.

The Terriers made huge improvements in the second half, raising their shooting percentage to 36.7 percent, including 46.2 percent from beyond the arc. Sophomore Sarah Hope had a lot to do with BU's success from long range, hitting four-of-seven treys after halftime.

BC and BU tied in the second half, 35-35, but the Terriers couldn't gain momentum to cut the BC lead to less than nine points. The Eagles led by as much as 21 points near the end of the first half but the Terriers were able to get within nine with six minutes remaining in the game.

The Eagles would not relent, however, and followed the Terriers' efforts with a 10-0 run to solidify their win.

BC had three players in double-digit scoring, led by Kelly Hughes who posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Eagles shot 41.2 percent (28-of-68) overall and 39.3 percent (11-of-28) from beyond the arc.

Hope finished with 14 points while fellow sophomore Courtney Latham added team highs in assists (5) and steals (2).

The Terriers return home for a game with Vermont on Saturday (Nov. 22) at 2 p.m. in Case Gym.
