BOSTON - Despite pressure down the stretch, the Boston University women's basketball team's early lead was enough to come away with a 66-61 win over Vermont (0-3) to stay perfect at home in Case Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Meghan Green again led the Terriers (2-2) in points, scoring a game-high 14, while three other BU players were in double-digit scoring. Clodagh Scannell (13), Sarah Hope (12) and Courtney Latham (11) were all key contributors on an efficient Terrier offense, which shot 41.1 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from beyond the arc.

BU's defense was equally as impressive as its offense, keeping the Catamounts out of the paint and forcing them to take 22 three-pointers, of which they made just four. Vermont was also held to 32.3 percent shooting overall.

UVM was led by Niki Taylor and Kylie Butler, who each put up 13 points. Butler shot well from beyond the arc, going 2-of-3 from long range and 5-of-9 overall.

The Terriers got off to a slow start but quickly corrected it, never allowing UVM to lead by more than three points in the opening minutes before taking the lead less than four minutes into the game, which they did not relinquish until midway through the second half.

Upon taking the lead, BU went on a 12-2 run over the ensuing 3:38 to gain a 10 point advantage and give the squad momentum throughout the rest of the first half. The Terriers led by as much as 12 points with eight minutes to go in the opening stanza and went into the locker room with an eight point advantage.

Boston U. continued its strong play to open the second half until the Catamounts turned on the offense four minutes into the period, going on a 15-4 run that gave Vermont its first lead since the opening minutes of the game.

The Terriers quickly stole back its advantage, however, following up UVM's offensive burst with a 12-7 gritty run that enabled BU to get on top and force the Catamounts to resort to fouling the rest of the way.

BU leaves Boston for the first time next week when the Terriers pack their suitcases for a long trip to New Mexico for the UNM Thanksgiving Tournament. Games will be played on Friday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. ET against New Mexico and Saturday, Nov. 29 at 9 p.m. ET against either Stephen F. Austin or UC Riverside.
