KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Boston University golf team concluded its season-opening tournament on Tuesday at the Kiawah Island Classic hosted by the College of Charleston.

The Terriers finished 13th in the 36-team field with a three-day total of 925 (314-299-312). Their best round came on Monday when they combined to card a 299, which was tied for the best team score of the day. It was the third time in program history that BU broke 300; both of the other times happened this past fall.

Freshman Adela Cejnarova (78-71-79) and junior Kristyna Pavlickova tied for 28th with a score of 228. Pavlickova fired a 76 on all three days to achieve that total. Sophomore Emily Tillo also placed in the top 50 with a 54-hole score of 232 (76-76-80).

Senior Christine Silen fired a career-low 76 on Monday to help card a three-day score of 243 (84-76-83) while junior Flor Canedo had her best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a 77 and finishing the week with a 245 (87-81-77).

BU combined for 24 birdies to begin the spring season. Tillo also holed a 35-foot eagle putt in the opening round. Monday's second round featured four Terriers with a score of 76 or better, which is a new program record. BU finished only five strokes behind 10th-place Elon in a highly-competitive field. Kent State won with a score of 892.

The Terriers will next travel to Pinehurst, N.C., to first face Siena on March 14 before taking part in the Pinehurst Challenge (March 16-17).
