BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Boston University golf team is in third place after the first day of the Patriot League Championship, hosted by Lehigh at Saucon Valley Country Club.
BU finished the day with a 36-hole score of 631 (320-311) after improving on its opening round by nine shots. Bucknell (619) leads Lehigh (620) by one stroke entering Sunday's final round.
Junior Kristyna Pavlickova (76-74) is in second place entering Sunday and trails the leader by just two shots. She carded a second-round 74 to finish the day with a 150, two strokes behind Lehigh's Crystal Lee (148). Pavlickova sank three birdies in each of her rounds on Saturday.
Freshman Adela Cejnarova is in eighth place after a two-round total of 159 (79-80). Sophomore Emily Tillo rebounded nicely from an opening-round 88 to fire a 76 in the afternoon session. She is tied for 13th with a score of 164. Junior Flor Canedo (84-81) is one shot back of Tillo while senior Christine Silen (82-86) and sophomore Maddy Silverman (83-85) are each in the top 20 after carding a 168.
It will be a three-team battle for the championship, as BU is well ahead of Navy (676) and Holy Cross (779). All five teams will play 18 holes on Sunday.
