BOSTON – The Boston University women's lightweight rowing team continued its spring season this weekend on the Charles River, competing in the Charles River Lightweight Invite on Saturday and Sunday. The team competed against lightweight boats from Stanford, Wisconsin, MIT and Harvard.
On Saturday, the Terriers' varsity eight boat, coxed by sophomore Allison Triola and stroked by junior Carol Chase Peterson, finished with a time of 7:35.9, behind race winner Harvard's time of 7:19.3 and in fifth place in a six boat field ahead of MIT.
The Terriers second varsity eight boat, coxed by junior Anna Martin and stroked by classmate Brittany Murphy, finished fourth in its race with a time of 7:56.8 again behind race winner Harvard and in fourth place in the five boat field.
In Sunday's action, the Terriers varsity eight boat finished third in a three boat field, behind Stanford and Wisconsin while the 2V boat finished second in its race, behind Wisconsin but ahead of Stanford.
Following this weekend's competition, the lightweight team will travel to Lewisberry, Penn. to face the Bucknell lightweights on April 26 before competing in the Eastern Sprints on May 4th.
