RESULTS: Bucknell (W, 5-2) | Hartford (W, 6-1)
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Extending its win streak to three matches, the Boston University men's tennis team collected victories at Hartford and fellow Patriot League member Bucknell by a combined score of 11-3 over the weekend.
With Sunday's victory over the Bison (2-13, 1-3 PL), the Terriers (8-8, 4-0 PL) moved within half a game of first place held by Army (15-4, 5-0 PL) in the Patriot League standings. Before visiting Bucknell, BU won two doubles matches and five singles contests at Hartford (3-7) on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers then won two of three doubles matches and four singles matches against the Bison to remain perfect in conference play.
Sophomore Stefan Lemire led the Terriers by going a perfect 4-0 in singles and doubles. He teamed with freshman Mario Sandoval for No. 2 doubles victories over the Bison and Hawks by identical scores of 8-3. In singles action, he topped Hartford (6-2, 6-3) at No. 2 and followed with a No. 3 win over Bucknell (6-3, 7-5).
Junior Emilio Teran and freshman Jay Leelavanich both also captured two singles points apiece in straight sets.
The Terriers will next host Army at Harvard on Saturday, April 19, with the regular season finale set to begin at 11 a.m.
