WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Victoria Hanson of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Hanson was brilliant in her two starts this week, allowing one goal in 100 minutes of action. She earned a 4-1 win over then-No. 3 Quinnipiac on Wednesday thanks to a 21-save performance and followed that up with a blemish-free two periods of hockey against Vermont on Sunday. She stopped 15 shots against the Catamounts to collect her 10th victory of the season.

A native of Stoughton, Massachusetts, Hanson also recorded her first collegiate point on Sunday with an assist on Marie-Philip Poulin's second-period strike. Hanson finished the week with a 0.60 goals-against average and a .973 save percentage.

BU will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when the Terriers hit the road to face Connecticut. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
