UAlbany all-time scoring leader Shereesha Richards lived up to the hype and scored 22 points to lead the Great Danes. Richards was unstoppable in the paint, as was her teammate Imani Tate, who also had a 20-point game.
The Terriers improved their shooting as the game progressed and ended the game with a 30.4 overall mark. The Great Danes had an impressive first half where they shot 62.5 percent from the field and finished with a 55.0 overall percentage.
Four Terriers scored nine points including Sarah Hope, who hit three from long range while dishing out a team-high three assists. Freshmen Naiyah Thompson and Lauren Spearman also tallied nine points alongside junior Meghan Green.
Albany dominated the paint, scoring 52 points in the red and out-rebounding the Terriers, 39-23. The Great Danes also capitalized on BU miscues, scoring 31 points off of turnovers.
The game started off slow on both sides but Albany found its stride late in the first quarter, which the Great Danes carried until halftime. The second period was the deciding factor in the game as UAlbany outscored the Terriers, 32-9 to finish the half with a 51-18 lead.
The deficit was too much for BU to overcome despite closer play throughout the second half as Albany came away with the 83-43 victory to stay unbeaten on the season, 2-0.
