CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Despite a season-high 55 points, the Boston University women's basketball team suffered a 73-55 loss at Harvard on Tuesday night in Lavietes Pavillion.

Meghan Green and Troi Melton each recorded a double-double on the night. Green scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Melton tallied 14 points and 10 boards.

The Terriers shot the best they have all season, going 33.3 percent from the field including a 37 percent showing in the first half. Harvard finished the night shooting 40.6 percent overall and hit eight three-pointers over the course of the game.

Shilpa Tummala led the Crimson with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists while Kit Metoyer was dangerous from downtown, going 5-of-7 from the three-point line and finishing with 15 points.

Play was fairly even in the paint with Harvard edging BU, 32-28 in points and 45-40 in rebounding.

Both teams started off slow and scoring was back-and-forth until the Crimson found its rhythm late in the first quarter to end with an 18-10 advantage going into the second period.

BU kept pace with Harvard throughout the quarter, which was the most prolific on offense for both squads. The Terriers were led by Melton, who scored eight points in the second quarter alone but the Terriers couldn't make up for the early eight-point deficit and went into halftime still trailing by the same amount.

Harvard out-scored the Terriers, 17-10, in the third quarter and the deficit was too much for BU to overcome in the fourth despite a strong showing from the posts with Green and Kara Sheftic each contributing four points.

The Terriers are back in action on Saturday when they head to Dartmouth for a 2 p.m. game against the Big Green.
