BOSTON - Led by Ally Adam's career-high five points, the Boston University women's lacrosse team earned a 13-5 victory over American in the Patriot League opener on Saturday afternoon at New Balance Field. BU(3-1, 1-0 PL) outscored the Eagles (1-5, 0-1 PL) 6-1 in the second half to secure the win.

Caroline Meegan had another impressive day in net, making 10 saves, including seven in the second half, and allowing just five goals. This was her second game with double-digit stops.
The Terriers were strong in the circle, winning 11-of-17 draw controls, three of which were grabbed by Jill Horka. In addition to her two goals, Larivee led the team with two caused turnovers and also contributed two ground balls. BU opened scoring early, netting the first goal of the game just over two minutes into the contest when Ally Adams took a shot from just inside the arc that was stopped by the goalie but it trickled past the line to give the Terriers a 1-0 advantage.
American answered soon after to tie the game at 1-1 but it would be the final time BU didn't command a lead for the remainder of the contest. Less than one minute later the Terriers netted the go-ahead goal when Remy Nolan elected to pass rather than shoot on a free position opportunity and Lindsay Weiner (1g, 2a)tossed one in on the doorstep to put the Terriers on top for the rest of the game.
The Terriers and the Eagles exchanged goals for the rest of the first half but Anderson's free position goal with 10 minutes before halftime would ultimately become the game winner.
With a 7-4 advantage to start the second half, the Terriers came out firing and Taylor Hardison (1g, 1a) scored her first goal of the season on a well-defended shot.
American netted one more four minutes into the second half but the Eagles were held scoreless for the remainder of the game thanks to seven saves by Meegan.
The Terriers scored five more throughout the remainder of the period to finish with a 13-5 victory.
BU hits the road for the first time in three games, heading west to play Denver on Wednesday, March 11 at 9 p.m. ET.
