ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Led by sophomore Adela Cejnarova, the Boston University golf team is atop the leaderboard at the Patriot League Championship after Saturday's opening two rounds at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
BU combined for a 307 to jump out to a 12-stroke lead over Lehigh after the first 18 holes, and the Terriers extended the margin to 18 shots at the conclusion of Saturday's competition. Three Terriers lead the pack, as junior Emily Tillo (77-74) and freshman Phyllis Tang (79-72) are both tied for second.
Cejnarova led by five after an even-par 72 in her opening round and followed with a 74 in the afternoon session to maintain her five-shot lead heading into Sunday. Tillo sank a tournament-best six birdies over her two rounds and closed the day with a score of 151. Tang made her championship debut on Saturday and was terrific in the afternoon session, shooting an even-par 72 to match Cejnarova for the low round of the day.
Senior Kristyna Pavlickova (79-89) was one of four Terriers to break 80 in the morning groups and finished the day tied for 20th with junior Sarah Easton (83-85), who teed off in her first-ever conference championship on Saturday.
The Terriers will look to complete a wire-to-wire victory earn their first-ever NCAA Regional appearance on Sunday. The first group tees off at 8:30 a.m.
