The Boston University women's lightweight rowing team will race in the IRA National Championship Regatta beginning on Saturday, May 30 in West Windsor, N.J. The lightweights will send 3 boats to the regatta, racing in the varsity eight, varsity four and women's 2x competitions.

"We are happy and excited for the opportunity to race at the IRAs," said lightweight rowing head coach Malcolm Doldron. "Our student-athletes have put in a tremendous amount of work in preparation for this weekend. I think we are racing well and we are excited about this competition."

The No. 3 ranked varsity eight boat will compete in a field of nine. The Terriers first heat race will be at 8:12 a.m. on Saturday against MIT, Harvard-Radcliffe and Georgetown. The top two boats in each heat ace advance directly to Sunday's grand final.

Boats not finishing in the top 2 spots in heat races will have another chance to advance to the grand final by finishing in the top 2 of the repechage race at 1 p.m.

The varsity four boat will compete in a field of 8 schools. The V4 will compete in its heat at 8:24 a.m. against Stanford, MIT and Radcliffe.

The women's lightweight grand finals will be held on Sunday to determine the national champion. The varsity four is schedule to begin at 8:48 a.m. and the varsity eight at 11:36 a.m.

The BU lightweights last raced at the EAWRC Sprints Championships May 3 in Camden, N.J. where the Terriers won a gold medal win in the 2V8 and a silver in the 1V race.
