BOSTON – Coming off a 10-point win over UMass Lowell, the Boston University women's basketball team will conclude the three-game homestand by hosting another America East foe, New Hampshire, on Monday with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as the team will be providing free french toast to everyone, as part of National French Toast Day.
The Terriers (1-4) claimed their first win of the season with junior Corrine Williams and senior Courtney Latham tallying career-highs in scoring at 19 and 17 points, respectively. BU shot a season-high 45.3 percent from the field and scored 25 points off turnovers behind 16 steals, including four apiece from Latham and senior Sarah Hope.
Williams currently leads the team in shooting at 60.9 percent and is averaging 7.4 ppg, while Hope is shooting 36.6 percent in 3-point territory to post a team-high scoring average of 12.2 ppg. Junior Kara Sheftic is close to double figures at 9.2 ppg with senior Meghan Green and Latham sitting at 8.2 ppg.
Defensively, the Terriers have a positive turnover margin of 1.0, as Latham ranks second in the Patriot League in steals at 2.8 per game. Junior Sophie Beaudry leads the PL in blocks at 2.5 while also leading the team in rebounding at 6.8 rpg.
BU leads UNH in the all-time series, 40-31, but has lost the last two, a 67-55 home decision in 2014 and 69-52 road decision last year. The Wildcats are riding a two-game win streak with a 63-40 victory over Wagner and 62-60 win over Bryant following a 92-43 loss at Kentucky.
5-foot-6 guard Brittni Lai leads the Wildcats (3-2) in scoring at 13.0 ppg with 6-foot-2 center Calrie Pogue close behind at 11.0 ppg with a team-high 7.4 rpg. 6-foot-2 forward Kat Fogarty is nearly averaging a double-double as well at 9.6 ppg and 7.0 rpg, respectively.
After the game, BU will hit the road to participate in the Arizona State Classic on Dec. 3-4. The Terriers will first meet the host Sun Devils at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday.
