POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. – Despite a career-high 20 points from junior center Sophie Beaudry and 18 points from senior Sarah Hope, the Boston University women's basketball team fell to Marist College, 76-57 on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Marist freshman guards Rebekah Hand and her twin sister Hannah had hot hands early, combining to go 4 for 5 from behind the arc, leading Marist to a 19-7 lead after one quarter.
  • Junior center Sophie Beaudry had a terrific first half for the Terriers, shooting 6 for 10 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the line for 14 points, breaking her career high of 12 points in just the first half of basketball.
  • The Terriers held the Red Foxes to 28.6% shooting in the 2nd quarter as Kara Sheftic and Beaudry each had 2 steals, but Marist went 8-10 from the line to help them hold a 13 point lead at the half
  • Marist shot 7 for 17 (41.2%) from behind the arc in the first half and the Hand sisters combined for 19 points, helping the Red Foxes build the 13 point (37-24) halftime lead.
  • Sarah Hope had six points in the third quarter, as BU outscored Marist, 16-14 in the third stanza to cut the home team's lead to 51-40 after three.
  • Marist forward Lovisa Henningsdottir hit back-to-back threes to stretch the Marist lead to 59-40 with 8:00 left in the final quarter, but the Terriers would not go quietly. BU went on a 14-7 run, with the help of 4 made free throws from Beaudry, to cut the lead to 10 points (64-54) with 4 minutes to play.
  • Marist closed things out strong, ending the game on a 12-3 run to account for the 76-57 final.
GAME NOTES
  • Marist shot 87.0% from the line (20-23) while BU shot 9-16 (56.3%).
  • Marist shot 14-31 (45.2%) from three-point range while the Terriers went 6-21 (28.6%).
  • Senior guard Courtney Latham led all players with 9 assists.
  • The teams combined for 29 turnovers in the game with BU turning it over 14 times and the Red Foxes 15 times.
  • Marist had the edge in rebounding, 42-36.
