TEMPE, ARIZ. – The Boston University women's basketball team fell to No. 24 Arizona State, 71-42 in the first game of the Arizona State Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers will next face Long Beach State on Sunday at 11:30 am. MT (1:30 p.m. ET), after the 49ers dropped an 83-53 decision to fellow ASU Classic participant No. 23/19 Florida.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers came out hot in the 1st quarter, shooting 60 percent (6-10) from the floor. The Terriers kept things tight when senior guard Courtney Latham made a layup to make it a 12-10 deficit with 4:27 to go in the first. The Sun Devils went on a mini 6-2 run before Latham hit a 12-footer to make the score, 18-12, at the end of the first.
- The Sun Devils' senior forward Sophie Brunner scored six points in the second quarter for a total of 10 in the half, helping ASU outscore the Terriers, 18-7, in the second stanza and build a 36-19 lead at the half.
- ASU opened the second half with a 9-0 run to open up a 45-19 lead and pull away for the victory.
GAME NOTES
- Junior center Sophie Beaudry went 4-8 from the floor (50.0%) to lead the Terriers with eight points while adding three rebounds.
- Junior guard Corrine Williams shot 3-5 from the floor (60.0%) for six points and added three steals.Â
- The Sun Devils had a big edge in free throw attempts. ASU went 13-23 (56.5%) from the line while BU was 5-7 (71.4%).
- ASU out-rebounded BU, 32-19.
- The teams combined for only three made 3-pointers, as ASU went 2 of 13 (15.4%) from behind the arc compared to BU's 1-of-10 performance.
