The Boston University women's basketball team suffered a 67-46 loss to Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon in Case Gym.
The Terriers (2-22, 2-11 PL) look to bounce back against Colgate as BU travels to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on the Raiders at 7 p.m. on the Patriot League Network.
BU was led by Troi Melton, who totaled 17 points including 11 in the second half. Courtney Latham also had a double-digit day, finishing with 10 points and a team-high three steals.
Loyola's Colleen Marshall was trouble early and often for the Terriers. The senior finished the day with 25 points which was bolstered by 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Bri Betz-White (15 points) and Jeneh Perry (12 points and rebounds) also finished the day with double-figure points.
The Terriers came out strong and the first few minutes of the game featured back-and-forth scoring and five lead changes. The Greyhounds began to use a trapping defense, however, which frustrated the BU offense for the remainder of the first half.
Loyola capitalized on this opportunity and shot an incredible 65.2 percent by the end of the second quarter. The Greyhounds rarely missed for most of the game, in fact, shooting 50.0 percent overall and going 6-for-12 from long range.
The Terriers couldn't catch up from the early deficit and ultimately settled for a 67-46 loss to the Greyhounds.
