BU Begins Outdoor Season at Hurricane Invitational

MIAMI - Highlighted by 11 top-five finishes, the Boston University men's track & field team opened the 2016 outdoor season at the Hurricane Invitational on March 18 and 19.

Three Terriers were victorious over the weekend, led by two field athletes. Graduate student Nikolaos Farmakidis won the pole vault with a mark of 4.70 meters (15’ 5”) and junior David Oluwadara won the triple jump with a leap of 15.51 meters (50’ 10.75”). Junior Tyler Malone took third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.79 meters (45’ 3”).

Two Terriers were in the top five of the javelin as senior Devon Lattrell took third (53.63m, 175’ 11”) and freshman Pablo Colon took fifth (52.04m, 170’ 9”). Sophomore Jason Biesma was ninth in that event (42.77m, 140’ 4”).

Senior Reuben Horace finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.34 meters (158’ 7”). He also took sixth in the discus (43.59m, 143’) behind classmate Ethan Knight, who finished fourth (47.42m, 157’ 4”). Knight also posted a third-place performance in the shot put with a throw of 16.53 meters (54’ 2.75”).

On the track, Senior David Lagerberg won the 400m dash with a time of 47.30 seconds. Junior Cameron Williams was fourth in the 100m dash (10.53) while sophomore Jordan Love took ninth in that event (10.74).

Freshman Robie Webster finished fifth in the 110m hurdles (15.82) and 11th in the 400m hurdles (59.84). Love was also 10th in the 200m dash (21.38).

BU will return to action at the Texas Relays, which begin March 30.
