BOSTON - Despite a strong start, the Boston University women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-6 decision to reigning Patriot League Champion Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers (4-5, 2-1 PL) look toward Wednesday's game at Colgate to stay at the top of the Patriot League standings while the Greyhounds (6-4, 3-0 PL) maintain their No. 1 ranking in the conference.

Mallory Collins led the team with two goals while Remy Nolan tallied a goal and an assist. Caroline Meegan totaled eight saves on the afternoon on 28 shots faced.

Sabrina Tabasso led Loyola with three goals and Maddy Blakeman totaled a game-high four points off of two goals and assists. Molly Wolf made 14 stops in net, frustrating the Terriers who out-shot the Greyhounds, 31-28.

BU began the game on a hot streak, scoring three straight goals to jump out to a 3-1 lead less than 10 minutes into the contest. Collins started things off with a top-shelf goal off of a feed from Nolan to tie it up at 1-1 after Loyola scored on the opening possession.

Taylor Hardison then netted her first goal of the season off of a quick flick from the edge of the crease to give BU its first lead of the day. Jill Horka rounded out the run with a free position goal.

Loyola countered with a three-goal run to regain the lead but BU quickly tied it at 4-4 as Nolan netted a free position goal. The Greyhounds scored one more before the end of the half to take a 5-4 lead going into the second stanza.

Loyola held the Terriers scoreless for the first 15 minutes of the second half and used that time to increase its lead by two goals.

The Terriers cut into the deficit with a Collins free position strike but her goal and an Ally Adams free position score was not enough to make up for the Greyhound's second-half surge and BU settled for the 10-6 loss.
