BOSTON - A dominant end to the first half put the Boston University women's lacrosse team (7-6, 4-2 PL) ahead of New Hampshire (6-7) and led to a 14-7 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

Ally Adams was key to the Terrier win, scoring two goals in a five-point swing at the end of the first half to give BU an 8-4 halftime advantage. Adams finished the day with three goals along side freshman Kelly Mathews, who recorded her second-straight game with a hat trick.

Taylor Hardison led BU with four points including three assists while Jill Horka grabbed five draw controls and totaled two goals on the day.

The defense gave Caroline Meegan a light load, and the junior goalkeeper finished the day with six saves out of 13 shots on net.

BU dominated possession throughout the day despite an even result on draw controls as the Terriers outshot UNH, 32-16 on the day.

The Wildcats started off fast, scoring the first two goals of the game but BU countered with a three-goal run to take its first lead of the game, 3-2. Mickenzie Larivee and Horka scored two quick goals to tie the game at 2-2, 10 minutes into the contest.

Mathews then scored her first of the day off of Hardison's first feed of the afternoon to put the Terriers on top for the first time. UNH's Devon Croke took over, however, scoring on a free position and then again in open play one minute later to restore the lead to the Wildcats.

BU countered with five unanswered goals that put UNH behind by four goals, a deficit that was ultimately too much for the Wildcats to overcome. Mathews started things off in identical fashion to her last goal, shooting past the New Hampshire goalie off of a pass from Hardison.

After Horka scored her second of the day, Adams took over netted two unassisted goals to give BU a three-goal cushion. Hardison finished the five-goal run with what would ultimately be the game-winner.

BU maintained its advantage throughout the second half, adding to their lead until they reached a seven-goal advantage with just over 10 minutes to play. The pair exchanged goals one last time before the game ended, and settled on a score of 14-7.

The Terriers are back in action on Saturday when they hit the road for their final trip of the regular season, visiting Navy for a 1 p.m. contest. The game will air live on the Patriot League Network.
