BOSTON - Senior Mallory Collins scored one goal and added two assists, but the Boston University women's lacrosse team fell to Lehigh, 8-7, on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
BU (5-6, 3-2 PL) held a 5-1 lead at halftime, but Lehigh (8-2, 3-1) outscored the Terriers, 7-2, over the final 30 minutes, including a goal with five seconds remaining in regulation to break a 7-7 tie.
Midway through the second half, senior midfielder Jill Horka collected her 192nd draw control to re-set the BU all-time career record, surpassing Sarah Dalton '09. Horka also holds the season draw control record, corralling 68 last year.
Sophomore Mickenzie Larivee led the Terriers with two goals while freshman Kelly Mathews, sophomore Sarah Andersen, freshman Kaitlin Belval and senior Ally Adams each found the back of the net as well. Collins assisted on both of Larivee's goals and junior Caroline Meegan made nine saves in the cage.
Lehigh opened the scoring 1:51 into the proceedings, but the Terriers tallied the next five goals to take a 5-1 lead into the break. Andersen began the scoring with her sixth strike of the season, followed by the 21st goal of the season for both Collins and Larivee. After Adams' 19th goal of the season made it 4-1, Belval completed the run with her sixth of the season with 2:25 on the clock.
The Mountain Hawks notched the first three goals of the second half to cut the Terrier lead to 5-4 with 23:23 remaining. Larivee's second goal of the game extended the advantage to 6-4, but to Lehigh goals in a span of 5:10 tied the game, 6-6.
Mathews' fourth marker of the year gave BU a 7-6 lead with 6:34 to play. However, Lehigh tied the game with 2:01 on the clock before Lauren Beausoleil completed the comeback in the waning moments.
BU will be back in action on April 9 at Lafayette.
