HAMILTON, NY – Despite 20 points from junior Sophie Beaudry and senior Sarah Hope, and a career high 17 points from sophomore Naiyah Thompson, the Boston University women's basketball team lost a tough double overtime game at Colgate on Wednesday.
BU once again overcame a late deficit, rallying from 14 points down in the fourth quarter to tie the game, but the comeback fell short in double overtime as Colgate outscored BU 10-1 in the final stanza for a 96-87 final.

THE TURNING POINT
- With the teams headed to a second overtime tied at 86, Colgate came out and scored eight unanswered points and went on to outscore BU 10-1 in the final stanza to account for the 96-87 final. Senior guard Katie Curtis scored eight of the final 10 points for Colgate and had a game-high 28 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 1:56 to play in regulations, Sarah Hope made a 3-pointer to tie the game at 70. Colgate's Kateri Stone answered with her own three with 35 seconds to go to put Colgate up 73-70. But Hope nailed another three with just 24 seconds remaining, this one from well outside the arc, to tie it up again at 73 and send the game into OT.
- Trailing 86-83 with 29 seconds to go in the first overtime, Hope again came through with a clutch three to tie the game at 86 and send it to double OT.
- BU used 6-10 shooting (60.0)%) in the early going to build a 16-6 lead, forcing Colgate to call a time out with 4:28 to play in the first. Naiyah Thompson and Nia Irving combined for 12 points to lead BU.
- Led by 6 points from senior Katie Curtis, Colgate went on a 7-1 run to cut BU's lead to 17-13 at the end of one quarter.
- Colgate freshman Rachel Thompson hit a jumper and added two free throws in the final minute of the second quarter to cut BU's lead to 30-28.
- Rachel Thompson had eight points for Colgate in the second quarter (10 in the first half) as Colgate outscored the Terriers 17-13 in the second quarter to tie the game at 30 entering the half.
- Colgate's Chelsey Koren made two free throws to cap a 16-6 run and the Raiders took their first lead of the game, 33-32 with 9:39 to play in the third quarter.
- Sarah Hope hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 63-57 with 6:30 to play in the game.
GAME NOTES
- The teams were evenly matched on the boards with Colgate holding a slight 46-45 advantage.
- Colgate was 31-74 (41.9%) from the floor while BU shot 30-70 (42.9%). Colgate was 13-28 (46.4%) from beyond the arc while BU was 6-15 (40%). Sarah Hope made all six of BU's 3-pointers.
- BU turned the ball over 22 times while Colgate had 18 turnovers.
- The Terrier defense held Colgate to 5-13 (38.5%) shooting in the first quarter, to build a 17-13 lead.
